About >> ArtEntity What We Do and How We Do It We work to increase both the absolute quantity of art in the world, and the amount of time the public spends with art of all kinds. Among other projects, we are currently offering free online gallery space for literary, visual and audible art, and are looking forward to opening a physical space. We have goods available, and constantly seek funding and submissions for other projects. We recognize artists who are passed by on the street, who are excluded from society, who are not recognized in the mainstream artistic community. By recognizing these artists, we envision a step beyond any mainstream. The experiment is this: to encourage the emergence of less traditional arts and artists, and find a niche of people willing to directly support works of art. Because of our love for art, we are called to make a gift of our efforts to bring artists' projects to life. When artists work together in collaboration, not competition, the joy and learning that arise inspire us to continue creating. ArtEntity and the artist share in whatever successes and lessons emerge. For each tangible product we produce, we reserve only a small portion as a fundraiser. All ArtEntity works are available for cost of postage plus donation. A good analogy is the Freeware programming movement. We make our art available to the world, and ask that if you like it and use it, you think about sending us a gift. We want to make art as widely available as possible, and are constantly seeking the means to do that. All artists involved with ArtEntity retain their own copyrights, and may republish and reuse their pieces freely. We request permission from each artist any time we wish to collect or reuse their piece. We encourage Mindful Distribution, and the frequent giving of Love Offerings. We are committed to exploring unconventional means for distribution and support of our artworks, and welcome suggestions. Fully committed to education, we are creating a network of artists, and documenting our process. We advance learning and foster cross-fertilization of skills by keeping community at the center. Each artist, by virtue of being an artist, has meaningful experience to share. We want to learn with everyone how we can better teach each other. Who We Are ArtEntity is a not-for-profit collective providing outlets for creative works that are being lost in the milieu of modern media either because of the artist's marginalization, lack of market leverage, or loss of interest in the mainstream. We are creating a self-supporting community of artists, centered around a Venue for the publication, performance, and distribution of artwork. What we envision is an artistic community that pioneers a new way of approaching art as well as a new way of supporting artists. We have become skilled in a wide variety of things. As artists working together, we are interested in performing these services for a global community of other artists in exchange for the expert services they can offer us. We believe that art is an expression of heart and soul, and therefore inherently valuable. We are artists and craftspeople of all media. We live for our work and wish for an opportunity to have our work support us. We are not afraid of regular jobs, we just distrust them. And we firmly believe that if small groups of artists worked together in mindful collaboration, we could help each other get by, while producing and distributing our art. We wish to band together with other groups of artists to start local multimedia venues. These venues, with careful attention and heartfelt dedication, will provide a subsistence for the artists, and finger-snapping works of art for the community at large. Where We Came From Jon , Dan , and Paul went to college together. They have a long standing collaborative relationship, and have spent the better part of that relationship talking about how to build community around art. Then they met Corkland and Water. Corkland drew the image that became our logo. With his incredible art and common dream, Ivan lit a fire of inspiration in them and they were finally motivated into action. Water, with their trance-inducing music and heartfelt story, challenged them to take a risk. Together, we are all striving to lend form to the formless and breathe life into the ArtEntity.
